HA fillers add water-bound volume that washes out in 12–18 months. Biostimulators trigger your body to make new collagen — structural rebuilding that lasts longer and ages with you. Radiesse+ for jawline and hands, Bellafill for permanent acne-scar correction, Hyperdilute Radiesse for crepey skin and Liquid BBL.
Quick Answer
A biostimulator is an injectable that doesn’t add filler — it triggers your own body to build new collagen. Initial volume comes from the gel carrier and resolves in 1–2 weeks; the lasting result is the collagen your fibroblasts produce in response to the microparticles.
Reviv carries the two FDA-approved biostimulators that have the strongest long-term safety data:
We chose Radiesse+ and Bellafill over Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) deliberately: Sculptra carries a higher published nodule rate at the 6–12 month mark and a more demanding post-treatment massage protocol, while Radiesse+ delivers comparable collagen-building with cleaner long-term tolerability.
Per peer-reviewed histology, CaHA induces measurable type-I and type-III collagen at 4–7 months post-injection, with peak fibroblast activity through month 9. Bellafill PMMA-collagen scaffolds remain visible in tissue at the 5-year mark in published electron microscopy studies.

Biostim vs HA vs Skin Booster
All three are FDA-approved injectables. They work through different mechanisms, last different durations, and excel at different problems. Knowing the difference is the difference between an injector and a technician.
Category 1 — This page
What we carry: Radiesse+ (calcium hydroxylapatite), Hyperdilute Radiesse+, Liquid BBL (Radiesse+), Bellafill (PMMA + collagen).
How it works: microparticles act as scaffolding for new collagen. Your fibroblasts deposit type-I and type-III collagen around the particles over 4–9 months — the volume IS your own tissue.
Lasts: 12–18 months (Radiesse) to permanent (Bellafill).
Reversible: Radiesse partially with Hylenex (off-label). Bellafill no.
Category 2
What we carry: the entire Juvederm collection — Volbella through Volux.
How it works: HA gel binds water to add immediate physical volume. The volume is the gel itself.
Lasts: 9–18 months.
Reversible: Yes — fully dissolved with hyaluronidase.
Category 3
What we carry: Skinvive by Juvederm (HA-based skin booster).
How it works: micro-droplets of low-G HA improve dermal hydration and skin smoothness. Skin quality, not volume.
Lasts: 6–12 months.
Reversible: Yes (HA-based).
All three are FDA-approved when injected by a licensed provider. Per AAD safety guidance, complication rates depend on injector training more than on which product was selected. Reviv leads with technique — AMI certification + MD Codes™ placement — across all three categories.
§ CHOOSE YOUR PRODUCT — Direct to Treatment
Four ways to build collagen. Each card opens to a complete treatment guide with pricing, anatomy, and aftercare.
01 · A LA CARTE BIOSTIM Radiesse+ . Calcium Hydroxylapatite + Lidocaine Default biostimulator. Built-in lidocaine for comfort. Used for jawline contouring, hand rejuvenation, smile lines, and other collagen-rebuilding work. Lasts 12–15 months. Off-label partial reversal available with Hylenex. From $775/syr VIEW →
02 · NON-SURGICAL BBL Liquid BBL . Multi-syringe Radiesse+ phased plan Glute volume and skin tightening through Radiesse+ biostimulation. 10-syringe entry plan at $5,000 (additional syringes $500 each). Phased across 2–3 sessions over 4–6 months as collagen builds. From $5,000 VIEW →
03 · SKIN TIGHTENING Hyperdilute Radiesse+ . Diluted CaHA application Same Radiesse+ — diluted and layered for skin tightening on areas where regular CaHA would over-volumize: neck, décolleté, arms, knees. Builds collagen evenly across thinner-skin zones. From $775/syr VIEW →
04 · PERMANENT Bellafill . PMMA Microspheres + Bovine Collagen The only FDA-approved permanent filler for moderate-to-severe rolling acne scars (FDA-cleared 2014). 28-day allergy skin test required. Published clinical data documents correction past 5 years. 1, 2, 3, or 6-syringe packages. From $800 VIEW →Patients searching for a Bellafill specialist near Orlando usually have one of two goals: permanent smile-line correction or rolling acne scar repair (FDA-approved for distensible cheek scars, ages 21+) — Bellafill is the only dermal filler FDA-approved for both, with published clinical data documenting correction past five years. Its PMMA microspheres stay in place permanently while your own collagen builds around them.
Kristen-Anne Thomas, FNP-BC performs every Bellafill treatment at our Sanford boutique — 25 minutes from downtown Orlando — after the required 28-day allergy skin test (bovine collagen). Read the deep-dive on Bellafill for acne scars, or text us and Ava will book your skin test.
The Science
The lasting result isn’t the gel — it’s your own collagen response. Here’s the published timeline.
PHASE 01 · DAY 0–14
Initial volumization comes from the carboxymethyl cellulose gel (Radiesse) or collagen gel (Bellafill). This carrier resolves over 1–2 weeks — the volume you see at the 1-month mark is what your tissue is keeping, not what was injected.
PHASE 02 · MONTH 1–4
CaHA microspheres or PMMA microspheres act as scaffolding. Your fibroblasts recognize them and begin depositing type-III collagen around each particle. This is when patients say their face “looks better than the day after the appointment.”
PHASE 03 · MONTH 4–9+
Type-III collagen matures into structural type-I collagen. Published CaHA histology documents peak fibroblast activity at month 4–7 with measurable neo-elastin formation. This is the volume that’s actually yours.
“Biostimulators are slow filler” is wrong. They’re a different mechanism — closer to microneedling with a 9-month tail than to a one-shot HA injection. Patients who want immediate volume should pair biostim with Juvederm at the same visit.
The Reviv Safety Standard
Biostimulators carry the same vascular risk as HA filler — with a higher stakes correction problem because Radiesse can’t be fully dissolved and Bellafill can’t be dissolved at all. Reviv’s protocol is built for that reality.
Standard 01
Radiesse goes subdermal or supraperiosteal — never intradermal (causes nodules) and never in lips or tear troughs (vascular density too high). Bellafill is mid-dermal at scar base only. Each placement zone is mapped pre-injection.
Standard 02
Radiesse jawline and Hyperdilute Radiesse use blunt-tip cannulas wherever anatomy permits, with mandatory aspiration before each bolus. Reduces vascular event rates per published cannula safety data.
Standard 03
Hyaluronidase is stocked in every treatment room. Off-label partial Radiesse correction available same-day if needed (multiple sessions may be required). Bellafill cannot be dissolved — which is why we screen Bellafill candidates carefully and use conservative initial dosing.
Per AAFPRS guidelines, biostimulator complication rates are most influenced by layer-discipline and product placement — not brand selection. Reviv leads with technique. Bellafill candidates undergo a 28-day allergy skin test before any injection.
When NOT to choose biostim
Biostimulators are powerful but not universal. These are the situations where we’ll redirect you to Juvederm at consultation — not because biostim couldn’t do it, but because HA does it better and reverses if needed.
⚠ NEVER
Radiesse causes nodules in lip tissue. Bellafill is permanent — lip aesthetic preferences change. Always Juvederm Volbella XC or Ultra XC.
⚠ NEVER
Vascular density and skin thinness make biostim inappropriate. Juvederm Volbella XC is FDA-approved for infraorbital hollows.
⚠ AVOID
Biostim isn’t fully reversible. First-timers often appreciate the “test drive” of HA filler that can be dissolved. Once you know what you like, biostim becomes the long-term play.
⚠ AVOID
Wedding in 4 weeks? You want HA. Biostim collagen response builds over 4–9 months. HA gives you the look on day one.

Your Injector
Board-Certified FNP · AMI-Certified · "The Needle Ninja"
Kristen-Anne is the lead injector at Reviv Beauty. AMI-certified, MD Codes™-trained (course taught by Dr. Mauricio de Maio), with thousands of biostim and HA filler placements across Sanford, Lake Mary, and the broader Orlando area.
For biostimulators specifically, she trained on Radiesse hand and jawline applications with the manufacturer’s clinical protocol and on Hyperdilute Radiesse for décolleté with the published hyperdilution consensus technique. Bellafill candidates are screened personally and undergo a 28-day allergy skin test in-office.
