Non-surgical chin augmentation using Juvederm Voluma XC — the only HA filler FDA-approved (June 2020) for chin. Treatment is delivered by Kristen-Anne Thomas, FNP-BC, using MD Codes™ placement at pogonion and menton. 15–30 minutes. Zero downtime.

Real patients, published with consent. Results vary.
Chin filler is a non-surgical chin augmentation using FDA-approved Juvederm Voluma XC hyaluronic acid gel injected at the pogonion and menton to add projection, correct microgenia or retrogenia, and balance the lower face. Treatment takes 15–30 minutes, costs $725 per syringe (most patients need 1–3 syringes), lasts up to 1 year, and requires zero downtime.
Chin filler is a non-surgical procedure that uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to add projection, definition, and proportion to the chin. At Reviv Beauty, we use Juvederm Voluma XC — the first and only FDA-approved filler specifically for chin augmentation.
A well-defined chin is the foundation of facial balance. It anchors the lower third of the face, defines the jawline, and influences how prominent your nose appears in profile. When the chin is weak or recessed, the entire face can look unbalanced — even if every other feature is perfectly proportioned.
Unlike a chin implant, filler is immediate, reversible, and requires zero downtime. Most patients see their final results within 2 weeks and enjoy them for up to a year. Because Voluma XC is also FDA-approved for the cheeks, Kristen-Anne can address the chin and midface in a single visit for comprehensive facial sculpting.
The chin is part of a connected system. It works alongside the jawline, lips, and smile lines to define the lower third of your face. Addressing the chin alone can make a striking difference — but when combined with other zones through a Liquid Facelift or facial balancing approach, the result is transformative.
Chin augmentation with filler is ideal for patients who want more projection, better balance, or a stronger profile without surgery. During your free consultation, Kristen-Anne will assess your facial proportions and determine whether chin filler alone — or a combination with jawline filler, Kybella, or Botox — will give you the best result.
Not sure if your concern is the chin specifically? A weak chin can make you look perpetually tired, contribute to sunken cheeks, or make under-eye hollows appear worse. During your free consultation, Kristen-Anne will assess the whole picture and recommend what will make the biggest difference.
TL;DR: Juvederm Voluma XC is the only FDA-approved chin filler (June 2020). In Allergan's pivotal trial, 92% of patients showed measurable chin improvement at 6 months. Voluma XC is a hyaluronic acid gel with VYCROSS cross-linking technology — high G-prime (firm) for projection, low cohesivity for natural movement — lasting up to 1 year on the chin.
Juvederm Voluma XC received FDA approval for chin augmentation in June 2020, making it the first hyaluronic acid filler specifically approved for this indication. In the pivotal clinical trial:
Voluma XC uses Allergan’s proprietary VYCROSS technology — a cross-linking process that creates a smooth, cohesive gel with the structural integrity needed to project the chin against gravity. It integrates naturally into tissue, so it feels like your own bone structure rather than something foreign.
At Reviv Beauty, we use only authentic Juvederm products with verified lot numbers. Every syringe is Allē rewards-eligible, and you earn points toward future treatments. Check for Allē Flash Offers — limited-time deals that can save you $50+ per syringe.
Voluma XC is part of the broader Juvederm collection we carry. The same VYCROSS technology powers our cheek filler, and other Juvederm products treat temples, under-eyes, lips, and smile lines — so you can address your chin as part of a comprehensive plan or on its own.
Causes & Anatomy
Three causes account for almost every chin we treat. Each responds to filler differently — which is why anatomy mapping comes first at every consultation.
Cause 01
Microgenia (small chin) and retrogenia (recessed chin / chin retrusion that often presents alongside a weak jawline) are inherited skeletal patterns — the bony chin point (pogonion) sits behind the ideal facial-balance line.
Filler approach: 2–3 syringes of Voluma XC placed deep on the bone for forward projection.
Cause 02
After 40, the mandible (lower jaw) loses bone density, especially at the chin and pre-jowl sulcus — the chin "shortens" and creates a witch’s chin or ptotic chin appearance.
Filler approach: 1–2 syringes of Voluma XC restoring height and projection, often paired with jawline filler.
Cause 03
A hyperactive mentalis muscle creates the dimpled chin (sometimes called "orange-peel" chin) — sometimes called pebble chin or cobblestone chin. This is a muscle problem, not a volume problem.
Treatment: not filler — Botox or Daxxify into the mentalis. See below ↓
Mentalis Botox
If your chin looks dimpled, pebbled, or like an orange peel when you talk or smile, that’s muscle — not volume. The fix is Botox or Daxxify into the mentalis muscle, not filler.
Diagnosis at your free consultation. If you’re not sure whether your chin needs filler, Botox, or both, Kristen-Anne maps the underlying cause before recommending anything.

The Reviv Safety Standard
The chin sits near the labial and mental arteries. Filler complications are rare with experienced injectors — but rare isn’t zero. Per AAFPRS guidelines, three things matter: anatomical placement, vascular awareness, and same-day reversal capability. We do all three.
Standard 01
Chin filler is mapped to specific Allergan-licensed coordinates — deep supraperiosteal at pogonion, lateral fanning toward gnathion. Not freehand.
Standard 02
High-frequency ultrasound for vascular mapping in complex cases or revision work. Most Orlando-area med spas don’t have this on site.
Standard 03
Hyaluronidase stocked in every treatment room. If anything ever needs to be reversed, it happens that day — not "come back tomorrow."
Why MD Codes™ matters at Reviv: Kristen-Anne Thomas, FNP-BC, has completed MD Codes™ training taught by Dr. Mauricio de Maio himself — the Brazilian plastic surgeon who created the framework Allergan licenses for AMI certification. The anatomical placement protocols on this page reflect what she was taught in his course, not a generic interpretation.

Recovery: Mild swelling and tenderness for 1–2 weeks. Bruising is possible but typically fades within 7–10 days. Most patients return to work the same day. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Final results visible within 2 weeks.

We recommend trying filler first to “test drive” your ideal chin projection. If you love the result, you can maintain it with annual touch-ups or explore a permanent implant with a surgeon. The advantage of filler is that you can see exactly what enhanced projection looks like on your unique face before committing to anything permanent.
Decision Guide
Three different treatments solve three different chin/lower-face concerns. Picking the wrong one wastes money and won’t fix what’s actually bothering you.

Many patients combine treatments. Chin filler + jawline filler creates a complete lower-face contour. Chin filler + Kybella addresses both projection and submental fullness. Free consultation maps the right combination for your anatomy.
Chin filler is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments for men, and for good reason: a strong chin is the foundation of a masculine face. Male chin augmentation focuses on creating angular, forward projection rather than the softer, more tapered contour typically desired by women.
Men generally need 2–3 syringes of Voluma XC due to larger bone structure and thicker soft tissue. The treatment takes 15–30 minutes, requires zero downtime, and is completely discreet — most men return to work the same day.
For maximum impact, chin filler pairs exceptionally well with jawline filler (Juvederm Volux XC) to create a chiseled lower face. Botox for the masseter can further enhance angular definition. Learn more in our guide to Botox & Filler for Men.
For Women
Female chin aesthetics aren’t about projection — they’re about balance and softness. The right chin shape transforms a round face into a more oval or heart-shaped silhouette without making the chin look masculine.
Weak Chin + Double Chin? These are two separate issues that often coexist. Kybella dissolves stubborn submental fat beneath the chin, while Voluma XC adds structural projection. Combining both creates a dramatically sharper profile that neither treatment could achieve alone.
Lost Volume from Weight Loss? GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide can reduce facial volume alongside body fat. If weight loss has softened your chin definition, chin filler restores structure while the Ozempic Face Treatment protocol addresses volume loss across multiple facial zones. We prescribe medical weight loss and treat the face — all under one roof.
For patients with skin laxity along the jawline and chin, hyperdilute Radiesse can stimulate collagen to tighten and firm skin over time — the perfect complement to Voluma XC’s structural volume.

At Reviv Beauty, chin filler with Juvederm Voluma XC costs $725 per syringe. Most patients need 1–3 syringes depending on their goals and anatomy, bringing the typical investment to $725–$2,175. We offer Allē Payment Plans and CareCredit financing, plus Allē rewards on every treatment. Consultations are always free.
In the FDA clinical trial, chin filler results with Juvederm Voluma XC lasted up to 1 year in the majority of patients with optimal treatment. Individual results vary based on metabolism, volume placed, and lifestyle factors. Maintenance treatments are typically needed annually to preserve your results.
Juvederm Voluma XC is the first dermal filler to receive specific FDA approval for chin augmentation (June 2020). In the pivotal clinical trial, 92% of patients achieved measurable improvement with a favorable safety profile. Most side effects — tenderness, firmness, swelling — were mild and resolved within 2–4 weeks. As with any injectable procedure, risks include bruising, asymmetry, and rare vascular complications. Choosing an experienced, trained provider significantly reduces these risks.
Juvederm Voluma XC is the first filler to receive FDA approval specifically for chin augmentation. Its VYCROSS technology provides the structural cohesivity and lift capacity needed to project the chin against gravity, while integrating smoothly for a natural feel. Unlike some alternatives, Voluma XC is fully reversible with hyaluronidase, is Allē rewards‑eligible, and is also FDA‑approved for cheek augmentation — making it ideal for comprehensive facial balancing.
Most patients need 1–3 syringes of Voluma XC for chin augmentation. The FDA clinical trial allowed a maximum of 4 mL (4 syringes) per treatment session. A subtle refinement may require just 1 syringe, while significant projection enhancement may need 2–3. Your exact volume will be determined during your free consultation based on your unique anatomy and goals.
Most patients describe chin filler as very tolerable. In the FDA clinical trial, patients rated pain just 3 out of 10 on average immediately after injection. Juvederm Voluma XC contains built-in lidocaine (a numbing agent), and we apply topical numbing cream before treatment for additional comfort.
Yes. Chin filler is one of the most effective non-surgical treatments for a weak or recessed chin. By adding volume and projection to the pogonion (chin tip) and surrounding areas, filler can dramatically improve your profile, bring your chin into better proportion with your nose and forehead, and create a more defined lower face. Learn more in our guide: What Filler Can Do for a Weak Chin.
While chin filler does not remove fat, it can significantly reduce the appearance of a double chin. By increasing forward projection of the chin, filler creates a sharper chin-to-neck angle and pulls the lower face forward, making submental fullness far less noticeable. For patients with significant submental fat, chin filler can be paired with Kybella for optimal results.
Downtime is minimal. Most patients experience mild swelling and tenderness for 1–2 weeks, with peak swelling in the first 2–3 days. Bruising is possible but typically resolves within 7–10 days. Most patients return to work and normal activities the same day. Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sun or heat for 24 hours after treatment.
Both are effective, but chin filler offers significant advantages for most patients: no surgery, no general anesthesia, immediate results, full reversibility, and a fraction of the cost. Filler results last up to 1 year and can be customized over multiple sessions. Implants are permanent but require surgery and carry greater risks. We recommend trying filler first to “test drive” your ideal projection before considering a permanent implant.
Not always, but it’s common. The chin and cheeks work together to create overall facial balance. In many patients, adequate cheek support enhances the impact of chin augmentation. Because Juvederm Voluma XC is FDA-approved for both the cheeks and chin, Kristen-Anne can assess your entire facial structure and create a comprehensive treatment plan using a single trusted product.
Absolutely. Chin filler is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments for men seeking facial masculinization. Male chin augmentation focuses on adding strong forward projection and angular definition. Men typically need 2–3 syringes for impactful results. The treatment is quick, discreet, and requires zero downtime — most men return to work the same day. Read more: Botox & Filler for Men.
Because chin filler is placed deep against the bone (not in soft tissue), it remains relatively stable through weight fluctuations. However, significant weight loss can make filler more visible since there’s less overlying soft tissue, while significant weight gain may slightly obscure the enhanced projection. If you’re on a GLP-1 weight loss program, discuss timing with your injector during your free consultation.
Look for a provider who is board-certified, uses FDA-approved fillers (not off-label or counterfeit products), and has extensive experience with chin augmentation specifically. Ask to see before-and-after photos of their chin filler work. At Reviv Beauty, Kristen-Anne Thomas is a board-certified FNP-BC, Authorized Allergan Provider, and uses only authentic Juvederm products with verified lot numbers.
Chin filler and Kybella serve different purposes. Chin filler adds volume and projection to the chin bone area using hyaluronic acid (Juvederm Voluma XC). Kybella dissolves submental fat (the “double chin”) using deoxycholic acid. For patients with both a weak chin and excess submental fat, combining the two treatments provides the most dramatic improvement — Kybella removes the fat while chin filler adds structure.
When performed by an experienced injector, chin filler looks completely natural. The key is proper product selection — Juvederm Voluma XC’s firm consistency mimics natural bone structure, so the chin feels and looks natural to the touch. At Reviv Beauty, we use a conservative, layered approach, adding volume gradually to ensure your results enhance your existing features without looking overdone or artificial.
Yes — subtle chin lengthening creates a more oval or heart-shaped silhouette. Adding 1–2 syringes of Voluma XC at the chin point lengthens the lower face vertically, which optically slims a round face shape. Best results pair chin filler with cheek or jaw filler for full-face balance.
Chin filler builds projection at the front; jawline filler defines the lateral border and mandibular angle. If your concern is a weak or receding chin in profile, you need chin filler. If your concern is soft definition along the lower jaw or mild jowls, you need jawline filler. Many patients benefit from both for a complete lower-face contour. Each is $725 per syringe.
Dimpling, “orange peel,” or cobblestone texture on the chin is caused by an overactive mentalis muscle — not volume loss. Filler won’t fix it; in fact filler placed into a hyperactive mentalis can make it worse. The correct treatment is 4–8 units of Botox or Daxxify into the mentalis ($40–$80, lasts 3–4 months). Often paired with chin filler when both volume and muscle issues are present.
Yes — subtle asymmetry is one of the most common chin filler indications. Most chins have natural side-to-side asymmetry. Targeted micro-injections to the lighter side balance the projection and midline. Bring a forward-facing photo to your consultation if you’d like to see the asymmetry mapped.
Most patients need 1–3 syringes. Subtle definition or female-aesthetic balancing typically needs 1–2 syringes. Moderate chin recession needs 2 syringes. Significant retrogenia (severe recession) may need 3 syringes phased across 2 visits to allow tissue settling. Total cost: $725–$2,175 depending on dose.
Yes — chin projection visually balances a prominent nose. A weak chin makes the nose look larger; adding chin projection improves the chin-to-nose ratio without touching the nose. Many patients combine chin filler with non-surgical rhinoplasty (Liquid Profileplasty) for a complete side-profile transformation.
